Class Notes

Dear Students,

This is college. That means you should know better than to write notes to each other during class on the exercise you're going to hand in. I don't care that Roger is sweet or that you want to buy flowers for Becky. I am curious, however, if you noticed that the spectra of air and nitrogen are almost identical. Please check your high school behavior at the door, or at the bare minimum, write these little notes on pieces of paper that aren't to be graded. Or do what the rest of your classmates are doing, and text each other.

Thanks,

Bemused Teacher.

Wow, that's worse than MY high school students. Then again, if they try to text each other, we get to take their phones away!! I guess there are some perks to teaching at every level, aren't there?

I can take their phones away, but I find it more satisfying to watch their exam grades suffer due to poor note-taking. :) Now THERE'S the perk.

It's stories like this that make me wish I was teaching. I think you should grade the notes.

My students don't do this.

As far as I know...

I don't grade the notes, but I have written snarky comments in the past. Makes the students uncomfortable. :)

Heh. You're not able to read all the notes, are you? If only. Maybe you're wishing for your very own Becky or Roger?

Thanks,
