Suggestions, please

Between vitriolic speeches and driving in southern California traffic, I'm finding myself to be a little more ragey than usual. I can feel my blood pressure increasing on a daily basis. I'm more easily irked, too. Besides continuously imbibing hot chocolate, what can I do to soothe my rage? Help me!

I'm going to see Nine Inch Nails tomorrow. That should make me happy!

  1. How about some humorous books on CD for the commute? David Sedaris is quite good for taking the edge off of stupid lane-cutting, cel phone talking, non-signaling drivers.

As long as you don't laugh so hard that you stop watching the road.

  2. Not a bad suggestion. Thanks, dude! My commute is fairly short, but the combination of a few necessary quick lane changes and multiple tourist attractions (including the airport) make it a short drive full of idiots.

Oh, um, that sounded ragey, didn't it?

  3. cut yourself off of the RNC, and allow yourself to avoid all political news for one week? And/or go jogging for 20 minutes everytime you accidentally listen to any blood-boiling rhetoric?

  4. Greg also has suggested a hiatus from reading political news. Sigh. I liked to be informed, but...

Jogging ain't happening. A nice brisk walk, perhaps. Thanks for the advice!

  5. I ditto the walking, preferably near the water. For me, I try to simply have faith that things will turn out okay, which takes the edge off enough so I can start to think of what I can do to help make the world a better place.

  6. I spend a lot of time walking near water. Now that the tourists are leaving, the walk will be even more pleasant. See, there is no end to my irritation!

  7. Walk around with a gun in your hand.

  9. Hey, u may or may not remember me. this is Frank Camp from your astronomy class a couple years ago at MCC. I was just curious how my fav astronomy teacher is doing? also, I love ur anti-conservativeness, cause I'm fully republican, and it makes me laugh.

  10. Ah, Frank, the debates we could have! I'm doing well, although San Diego is a mite conservative for my taste. ;)

    Hope you're well!
