Happy Football Season! (Or maybe not)

I love football. I really, really do. But growing up a 49ers fan in the 80s did not prepare me to deal with their lack of success now. They're even playing the Cardinals today in Phoenix, but I've been so out of touch that I didn't realize it. No 49ers game for me this year. :( Not that it would be much of a game. I mean, if the 49ers win one game this year, I'll be surprised. The only good move the 49ers have made in recent memory is to sign Jerry Rice to a one day contract so he can retire as a 49er. I know this makes me a bad fan. I wish we had a working VCR because I think I still have the tape of the 49ers Super Bowl victory over the Broncos. Maybe I'll dig out my Ronnie Lott autograph and meditate.

Hey, the Niners just scored! I thought we might need to wait til Game 8 for that. I'm a bad fan.

Have more faith in your team Dr. Lisa.

It's all been downhill since they let Elvis Grbac go. I blame Terry Donahue.

Also, the fact that in describing the game the official site uses the phrase "divisional rival" in reference to the for-Pete's-sake Cardinals just goes to show how far the Niners have fallen.

Thanks for reminding me that I was at the Monday Night Football game for Steve Young's career-ending concussion. Perhaps it's all my fault.

Elvis Grbac...that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Why the people of San Francisco haven't overthrown the Yorks, I just don't know. I'm all for the Green Bay model of ownership.
